On Friday, May 9, the City of Fort Worth invited students, families and community members to celebrate National Bike to School Day, hosted at Fort Worth Country Day. This annual event encourages families to choose active, healthy and eco-friendly transportation by biking to school.
Why bike to school? National Bike to School Day is a nationwide celebration promoting cycling as a safe, fun and sustainable way to travel to school. It's a great opportunity for students to build confidence, learn safe biking practices and connect with their community. Plus, biking helps reduce morning traffic congestion and lowers our environmental impact.
Be part of the movement: The City's Transportation & Public Works Department is proud to support this initiative. City staff and volunteers were on hand with bike safety tips, fun activities and information on local infrastructure projects that support safe biking for all ages.
Families in Council District 3 have embraced active transportation through a growing "Bike Bus" initiative, where students and parents ride together to school along a set route. This community-led effort promotes healthy habits, reduces traffic congestion and builds stronger neighborhood connections.
The Bike Bus continues to gain momentum each week, showcasing the enthusiasm and commitment of local families to creating a more bike-friendly Fort Worth.
The City is excited to support and build on the growing Bike Bus movement. Together, partners are making biking to school a fun, safe and celebrated part of daily life in our community
