NORWICH, CT - Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) issued the following statement celebrating the completion of the Revolution Wind offshore wind energy project.
"At a time when Americans are facing skyrocketing energy costs and New England households are being hit with over 70% price hikes on home heating oil due to President Trump's war in Iran, Revolution Wind will deliver much needed cheaper energy to Connecticut's grid," Courtney said. "The cost of Revolution Wind's power at nine cents per kWh is far less than the average of 30 cents per kWh in our region, and crucially, because this power is generated and transmitted from right off the coast of New England, its price will not be at the mercy of global energy markets. Congratulations to the talented Connecticut building trades workers who completed this massive project through the Trump Administration's illegal halt work orders that were flatly rejected by every court. Your hard work and perseverance will bring lower costs to Connecticut households."
On September 10th, 2025, Congressman Courtney successfully led a bipartisan rejection of a measure in the U.S. House of Representatives which would have shut down the Revolution Wind project.
Revolution Wind will generate enough power for over 350,000 homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection estimates Revolution Wind will provide annual electricity-market savings of $500 million by 2028.
