TRAFFIC ALERT: New Weight Restriction Placed on Route B/Williams Creek Brid…

Benton County - Signs indicating a weight limit of 25 tons for single unit vehicles (not tractor trailers) will be installed over the next few weeks for a bridge on Benton County Route B over Williams Creek southeast of Cole Camp, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The new load posting came about during the department's regular bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations, which have been updated per Federal Highway Administration guidance.

The bridge is rated as fair and was built in 1949. The new weight restriction will be in place until the bridge is replaced. No timeframe has been set to replace the bridge at this time.

Previously a weight restriction of 20 tons for single unit vehicles and 36 tons for tractor trailers was in place.

Approximately 1,200 vehicles travel across the structure each day.
