Atlanta, Ga.-The State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) today announced the election of new board leadership for 2026, naming longtime board member Buzz Law as Chair and Carvel Lewis as Vice Chair. The new leadership team brings decades of experience in business, public service, workforce development, and community leadership to the system, which serves more than 592,000 Georgians annually through technical education, adult education, and customized workforce training.
"These leaders represent the strength, diversity, and practical experience that define Georgia's workforce," said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. "Buzz Law and Carvel Lewis both understand how education, industry, and local communities work together to drive opportunity. Their leadership will help ensure our colleges remain aligned with the evolving needs of employers and the students we serve across every region of the state."

"I am honored to be entrusted with this leadership role at such an important time for technical education in our state," said Law. "The Technical College System of Georgia plays a critical role in preparing Georgians for real, in-demand careers and in supporting the businesses that drive our economy. I look forward to working closely with my fellow board members, Commissioner Dozier, and our college leaders to strengthen pathways for students, expand partnerships with industry, and continue building a workforce system that serves every community in Georgia."
Carvel Lewis, who has served on the TCSG State Board since June 2019, was elected Vice Chair. Lewis is a licensed embalmer and funeral director with Lewis Mortuary, his family's business in Fort Gaines, Georgia. Lewis is a graduate of Hampton University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in biology, and he holds an associate degree in funeral service from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Georgia through this new role," said Lewis. "Our technical colleges are vital to rural and urban communities alike. They create access to education, strengthen local economies, and open doors for individuals and families. I am excited to support Chair Law and the entire board as we work to expand opportunity, address workforce challenges, and ensure that every region of our state benefits from a strong and responsive technical college system."
Law and Lewis will lead the State Board as it continues to advance statewide priorities focused on workforce readiness, adult education, business and industry partnerships, and student success across Georgia's 22 technical colleges.
