Gov. McMaster Issues Executive Order Regarding Charleston County School Trustee Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Governor Henry McMaster today issued Executive Order 2026-19 providing Charleston County School District Board of Trustees member Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson notice of charges and an opportunity to be heard pursuant to S.C. Code ยง 59-19-60.
On January 15, 2026, Governor McMaster requested that the State Inspector General investigate the conduct of one or more members of the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees. The Inspector General submitted a report to the Governor on August 27, 2026.
Based on the Inspector General's report, the Executive Order provides Dunmeyer-Roberson notice of charges involving the disclosure of executive session material, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, and a conflict of interest.
Under the Executive Order, Dunmeyer-Roberson must notify the Governor by September 10, 2026, whether she intends to exercise her right to be heard. A three-member hearing panel will consider her response and the evidence and submit a recommendation to the Governor by October 5, 2026, regarding whether she should be removed from the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees.
