The Minister of National Defence N. Dendias Visits the 1st Infantry Regiment in Florina

The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendiasvisited the Headquarters of the 1^stInfantry Regiment, in Florina, on Friday 14 November 2025, accompanied by the Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis.

The Minister of National Defence was welcomed by the Deputy Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Epirus & Macedonia Major General Nikolaos Dimitrakos, the Commanding General of the 9^thMotorised Brigade Brigadier General Anastasios Vasileiou and the Commander of the 1^stInfantry Regiment Colonel (INF) Stefanos Doxakis.

During his visit, Mr Dendias was briefed on the mission of the 1^stInfantry Regiment, in the context of the New Structure of Forces and the implementation of the "Agenda 2030" in the Armed Forces.

Upon conclusion of the briefing, the Minister of National Defence stated:

"Following Evros, where we attended a highly successful exercise this morning in Alexandroupolis, the first exercise in our history in which systems that were produced by the Greek innovation ecosystem, drones, anti-drones, and a series of other innovative solutions in the current problems of Defence were used. I have the opportunity to visit, for the first time, the 1^stInfantry Regiment here in Florina.It is also a border area, an area full of historic memories and historical challenges.

I saw with great pleasure the warmth that the society of Florina shows for the presence of the Hellenic Army, the Hellenic Armed Forces and the serious work performed here to provide the local society with a commodity, for which its Armed Forces have constitutional responsibility. That is the sense of security of the Greek citizens.

I also had the pleasure, along with the Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis who accompanied me, of discussing with the staff officers of the Regiment and the Brigade, the situation in the wider region. I would like to say that for me it is always a great pleasure and honour to visit the boundaries of our Homeland's Territory, the boundaries that the Armed Forces guard".

The Minister was also welcomed in Florina by the MP of the Prefecture Stavros Papasotiriou, the Deputy Head of the Florina Region Athanasios Taskas, the Regional Counsellor of the Western Macedonia Region Sotiris Vosdou and the former MP Stathis Konstantinidis.
