City Attorney Wes Duncan Announces Domestic Battery Conviction

The Sparks City Attorney's Office has announced that its prosecutor secured a conviction against David Walker for Domestic Battery, first offense, stemming from an incident that occurred on August 15, 2025.

On August 15, 2025, the Defendant called dispatch and stated the victim had taken their two-week old child. When Sparks Police Department arrived on scene, they spoke with the victim, who reported the Defendant had been drinking earlier that day, and an argument occurred between them. The victim left the residence with the minor child, which upset the Defendant. Outside the residence, the Defendant took the victim's phone and threw it across the parking lot. The victim disclosed to law enforcement that the Defendant pulled the victim to the ground by her hair as she was cradling the minor child. Law enforcement observed injuries on the victim, which consisted of scratches and dried blood.

The Defendant told law enforcement that the victim fell while holding the child, which caused scrapes to the minor child. Law enforcement obtained and reviewed video footage from a nearby building, which captured the victim slapping the Defendant and walking away with the minor child in her arms. The Defendant proceeded to walk away, but then turned around, walked up to the victim from behind, and pulled her to the ground by her hair. While the victim was on the ground, the Defendant forcibly removed the minor child from the victim's arms and walked away.

On October 9, 2025, the Sparks Municipal Court issued a bench warrant for the Defendant's arrest, which was ultimately executed on November 14, 2025.

On January 29, 2026, a prosecutor with the Sparks City Attorney's Office secured a conviction for Domestic Battery, first offense, against the Defendant.

"The Sparks City Attorney's Office will continue to hold offenders accountable, especially when they commit acts of violence in the presence of children," said Sparks City Attorney Wes Duncan.

As a result of the conviction, a Sparks Municipal Court Judge rendered the following sentence: Mr. Walker will serve the maximum term of 180 days in the Washoe County Jail suspended not to exceed two years, on the following conditions, be placed on formal probation with Sparks Municipal Court to include regular testing for drugs and alcohol, serve two active days in the Washoe County Jail, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine plus administrative assessments, pay a $35 domestic violence fee, complete 26 weeks of domestic violence classes, and obey all laws.
