Overnight Full Closure on Westbound Interstate 80 in Yolo County

SACRAMENTO and WEST SACRAMENTO - Caltrans is advising motorists of overnight construction work for westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) beginning Sunday, December 14 to Monday, December 15 from the Interstate 80 (I-80) and Interstate 5 (I-5) interchange to the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) and I-80 interchange.

All westbound I-80 lanes are scheduled to be closed during overnight construction as part of the ongoing $280 million Yolo 80/US 50 Pavement Rehabilitation Project. Workers will be doing an overnight shift by relocating k-rail and restriping for a new westbound configuration.

SCHEDULE and LOCATION:

  • Overnight lane and ramp closures are from 9 p.m. Sunday, December 14 to4 a.m. Monday, December 15 for westbound I-80 at the I-5/ I-80 interchange to the I-80/ US 50 connector. The southbound I-5 to westbound I-80 connector will only be open to West El Camino Avenue.

Ramps and Connectors Closed:

  • NB I-5 to WB I-80 connector
  • WB I-80 to WB I-80 connector
  • WB I-80 to EB US 50 connector
  • West El Camino Avenue on-ramp to WB I-80
  • Reed Avenue on- and off-ramps to WB I-80

Suggested Detour from WB I-80:

  • Take the connector ramp from WB I-80 to SB I-5

Suggested Detour from SB I-5:

  • Take the connector ramp from SB I-5 to WB US 50

Suggested Detour of Enterprise Boulevard and West Capitol Avenue:

  • Use SB Harbor Boulevard to US 50 on-ramps

Motorists are reminded construction zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph in Yolo County on US 50 to I-80 in West Sacramento and into Davis. The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and/or material availability, or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
