Ontario, CA - October 14^th, 2026 -Barnes & Noble is pleased to announce the opening of its new Ontario, CA bookstore on Wednesday, October 21^st. The new Barnes & Noble reinforces the commitment of the bookseller to the Inland Empire, complementing its long-established stores in Rancho Cucamonga and Montclair. It brings the number of Barnes & Noble across to the Inland Empire to nine bookstores.

The new Barnes & Noble will offer more than 23,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items, a Barnes & Noble Café and more. The design showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain.

The new Ontario, CA Barnes & Noble is located in Ontario Mills (4449 Mills Circle, Ontario CA), in the former Sam Ash space, next to AMC theatres. Ontario Mills, one of the largest one-level shopping malls in the United States, is California's largest outlet and value retail shopping destination.

Ontario Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM Pacific time on Wednesday the 21st, with local author Susan Straight cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her acclaimed book, Mecca. Costume Character Cat in the Hat will also join the festivities and host special storytime events over the weekend.

Barnes & Noble is experiencing significant growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. The new Ontario Barnes & Noble is one of 60 new stores the bookseller is to open in 2026, following a similar number opened in 2025. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 730 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between October 21^st and October 25th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.

Everyone who visits the new City Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.
