Narrative:

Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 32nd Avenue and 70th Street, in Bangor Township, on the report of a vehicle having crashed into a house. The driver, a 38 year old male from Battle Creek, traveling east bound on 32nd Street, failed to stop at the 'T' intersection with 70th Street, and proceeded to drive through the yard and into front of a house on the east side of 70th Street. The residence was occupied by the homeowner, who was not in the room breached by the vehicle's front end at the time of the crash. The male driver was taken to Corwell Hospital in St. Joseph as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. A search warrant for blood was executed at the hospital and the blood kit was sent to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This investigation remains open, pending results of the blood draw with eventual submission to the Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office for review.
