PASSED: Senate Resolution to Recognize National Police Week

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) joined Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Ranking Member Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and 79 bipartisan senators in applauding the Senate's unanimous passage of the resolution designating May 12 through 17 as National Police Week. The National Police Week resolution reiterates the Senate's unwavering support for law enforcement officers across the United States.

"During this National Police Week, we pause to honor our nation's law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and remember the families they leave behind," said Sen. Moran. "Our law enforcement men and women risk their lives every day to protect their communities, and I am grateful for their sacrifice, courage and service to others."

"Law enforcement officers in Iowa and across the nation work tirelessly to protect and serve our communities. This week, and every week, we should give our thanks to the brave men and women in blue, who have sacrificed so much to ensure our safety," said Sen. Grassley. "As always, I'm proud to back the blue and will continue my efforts in Congress to protect and support our courageous officers."

"Every day, our country's law enforcement officers put their lives at risk to keep us safe," said Sen. Durbin. "Officers and their families make great sacrifices in the name of service, including the tragic cases of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We're grateful for their heroism, and we must make sure that officers serving with dignity and integrity have the support and resources they need to do their jobs."
