Catch His Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Debut in San Francisco on October 5
October 3, 2025 - Breakout folk star William Prince shared "Damn" today, the final advance offering from his upcoming album Further From the Country, out October 17 via Six Shooter Records. Following his striking singles "For The First Time" and "On Rolls the Wheel," Prince's latest song soundtracks a sleepless night as he gracefully ruminates on emptiness and willpower.
Accompanied by gentle guitar, the moving solo spotlights not only his signature, soothing vocals, but also his deeply personal songwriting. The accompanying music video for "Damn" features Prince swaying with his guitar, with the sky changing shades of blue behind him as days and nights pass.
"I took some time to process the idea of tragedy, so this song is about how tragedies can be normalized, how our own comfort and safety can make us turn off our care and concern," says Prince. "I want more so I can do more, even if it's just in my own neighbourhood and community."

With Further From the Country, Prince expands his sound and perspective with a commanding body of work that explores grief, identity, and ambition through the lens of his upbringing in Peguis First Nation, Manitoba. Raised in a close-knit Indigenous community and shaped by deep musical traditions, Prince's new songs draw on childhood memories-both joyful and difficult-as a way to process the injustices and complexities of today's world.
The album's title track, a soaring opener that moves like a rocket breaking through gravity's pull, sets the tone for a project that is equal parts panoramic and intimate. From the dusty highways of "On Rolls the Wheel" to the poignant family portraits in "For the First Time" and "The Charmer," Prince's songwriting once again proves to be both acutely unique and universally resonant.
Further From the Country is produced by Liam Duncan (aka Boy Golden), Prince's labelmate and trusted creative partner, who also worked with Prince on his Spotify Singles Session in 2023. Together, they crafted a rich sonic landscape with contributions from Prince's longtime bandmates and members of Duncan's "Church of Better Daze" collective. The album was recorded in Winnipeg and features performances from a hometown ensemble including Alyshia Grace, Cody Iwasiuk, Ben Plotnick, Kristopher Ulrich, and more.
