Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 38-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection to two separate stabbings last month that killed a man and severely injured a woman.

Kyle Henderson was arraigned on sealed, grand jury indictment Monday in front of the Honorable William Little charging him with Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.

Albany Police allege that on Nov. 2 just after 1:10 a.m. in the area of Lark Street and Spring Street, Henderson stabbed a female in the left upper thigh, lacerating her femoral artery. The victim suffered serious blood loss, and friends rushed her to Albany Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery to save her life.

Then, on Nov. 4 at around 7:30 p.m., Albany Police responded to Robin Street and Bradford Street and found 34-year-old Edward Ponder on the ground suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was treated on scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel but died from his injuries.

Albany Police found Henderson in Schenectady and arrested him on Nov. 5 for the attempted murder. Credible evidence later linked him to the murder. Henderson pleaded not guilty Monday and was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jessica Blain-Lewis and Major Crimes Assistant District Attorney Taylor Cupp are prosecuting the case.

ALL DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE.
