WASHINGTON, D.C - Anthony Wright, executive director of Families USA, released the following statement today regarding voters prioritizing health care affordability in yesterday's elections.
"American voters made it crystal clear at the ballot box that health care affordability, much like the price of groceries and gas, is a key concern. But this is nothing new. Polling, including our recently released data, consistently indicates that Americans want immediate action to lower health costs.
"President Trump and Congress must seize this moment to prioritize families and act on an actual affordability agenda that will take on corporate health care greed to improve families' health and protect their wallets. Right now, millions of Americans are shopping for health care plans and seeing sky-high premiums for next year because Congress hasn't extended the ACA's enhanced premium tax credits. And millions more are missing paychecks and losing access to SNAP, Head Start, and other critical programs due to the government shutdown. The President and Congress should put people before politics and work together to turn this moment into real change.
"Nearly every American - regardless of where they live, how much money they make, the type of health insurance they have, or which side of the political aisle they claim - believes skyrocketing health care costs are an urgent issue for Congress and the President to address."
