The Home Depot is proud to announce a new partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation - a collaborative effort dedicated to reforestation efforts and biodiversity protection projects throughout the world. The Home Depot is committing to help reforest 2,000 acres by 2028 - equal to the size of 800+ Home Depot stores - through this partnership.
The first 500+ acres planted are dedicated to:
The Home Depot has embedded sustainability into our business strategy. Our sustainable forestry commitment helps support biodiversity, watershed health, and ecosystem resilience, establishing sustainability from the forest canopy to our aisles. Reforestation is a vital step in preserving necessary forests and biodiversity for future generations.
In addition to our own commitment, The Home Depot is also encouraging suppliers to take their own long-term reforestation efforts. This is already in practice with our seasonal suppliers, who plant three new Christmas trees for every one they harvest.
The Home Depot believes our biggest opportunity to make a positive environmental impact comes from the products we sell and from helping consumers make sustainable product selections.
Our Eco Actions program continues to serve as a platform to inspire customers with sustainable project ideas and educate them about the latest in sustainable product innovations. We aim to help our customers save an incremental $375 million in energy costs through the sale of energy efficient products by the end of 2028, representing total savings of approximately $1 billion since 2023. Going forward, The Home Depot remains anchored in its effort to Operate Sustainably and will continue to strive to reduce our impact on the environment, partner with others to invest in the environment, and improve our customers' lives with more efficient and sustainable products.
