Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs delivers opening remarks at the welcoming ceremony for the "Songkhla: Enhancing Better Understanding and Fostering Cooperation" programme
On 29 September 2025, Ms. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, together with Mr. Chotnarin Kerdsom, Governor of Songkhla Province, and Mr. Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, presided over the welcoming ceremony for members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of Thai and foreign media, participating in the "Songkhla: Enhancing Better Understanding and Fostering Cooperation" programme. Organized by the Office of the National Security Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 29 September to 1 October 2025, the programme brought together diplomatic representatives from 21 countries.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of Songkhla's potential in economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, and education, as well as to promote opportunities for international cooperation in areas such as academia, research, medicine, and local investment.
The delegation also received a briefing on the history of Songkhla Province and visited the old town district, along with other significant historical and cultural landmarks.
