Gilbert Begins Repairs at Southeast Regional Library

Gilbert, Ariz- The Town of Gilbert will begin a multi-phase repair project at the Southeast Regional Library in early September to address structural settling and moisture-related issues that have developed over time.

The library will remain open throughout the project; however, temporary closures of individual sections may take place as work moves through the building.

The project focuses on maintaining the safety, functionality, and longevity of the library so it can continue to serve the community for years to come.

"This project is an important investment in long-term safety and functionality of the Southeast Regional Library" said Milan Perisic, Gilbert's Facilities Manager. "We know construction can create temporary inconveniences, and we appreciate our community's patience as we make these necessary repairs. Our goal is to complete the work efficiently while keeping the library open and accessible to our residents."

The project will include several repairs and improvements throughout the building and surrounding property, including:

  • Repairing the concrete floor slab
  • Improving drainage around the building through grading, gutter improvements, and drain extensions
  • Making repairs to the roof, windows, and interior walls
  • Installing new ventilated carpet
  • Trimming trees and shrubs, including removing one large tree that is encroaching on the roofline. The tree will be replaced in a new location after construction is complete.
  • Repairing trip hazards in and around the building

The work will take place in four phases over approximately four to six months, with completion anticipated in spring 2027. Temporary fencing will be installed along the south and southeast sides of the building, between the library and Water Ranch Lake, beginning September 14.

The Town will keep residents informed as each phase begins, including any temporary closures within the library. Thank you for your patience as we invest in this well-loved community space.
