NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

SKAGWAY CITY OF

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: City of Skagway

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35889

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:

Located within the City of Skagway near the airport by Seven Pastures Recreational Area.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Section 12, Township 28 South, Range 59 East, Copper River Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW) has received a land use permit application from the City of Skagway for the installation of a closed off chain link fence for the purpose and use of an enclosed dog park on state land. The dog park would consist of a 6' chain link fence around the perimeter, roughly 783 feet. The fence posts would be driven into the ground without the use of concrete. There would be one pedestrian gate and one vehicle gate, and a double bear-proof garbage can. The permit term would be 5 years.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

End: December 31, 2031

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: April 6, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Avenue/PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
