On September 16, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Ambassador Rovshan Sadigbayli, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Jia Guide noted that guided by President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, China-Azerbaijan relations have maintained rapid growth and were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025. The two sides cooperate well in multilateral arenas and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests. China stands ready to deliver the common understandings of the two Heads of State, further strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan, and jointly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, as well as the international order based on international law.

Ambassador Sadigbayli stated that Azerbaijan always regards China as a key partner, and values China's crucial influence in international affairs and on multilateral platforms including the UN. Azerbaijan stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China on the Geneva platform, and jointly advance China-Azerbaijan relations to new heights.
