In a crime that reflects the brutality of Israeli occupation forces against civilians, Israeli warplanes targeted a journalists' tent near Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, killing ten people, including journalist Helmi Al-Faqaawi, and injuring dozens of journalists and civilians, some of whom suffered burns after the tent caught fire due to the bombing.
This grave assault is part of an escalating series of crimes directly targeting journalists in a systematic attempt to silence the Palestinian voice and obscure the truth. As a result, the number of journalists killed since October 2023 has risen to 207, marking one of the deadliest assaults on media professionals in history.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that Israel's assault on journalists is part of its broader war against the Palestinian people, aimed at suppressing the truth and preventing the documentation of ongoing crimes against civilians. This deliberate assault is part of a series of systematic violations, including indiscriminate bombings, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and enforced disappearances, all intended to intimidate journalists and obstruct their humanitarian and professional duties.
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to exposing Israel's crimes and urges the international community, the International Federation of Journalists, and UN bodies to act urgently to protect Palestinian civilians, especially journalists and humanitarian workers. It calls for real pressure on Israel to end its assaults and comply with international law, humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and UN resolutions.
