Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 37-year-old Albany man has been charged for having an illegal handgun and a large quantity of drugs.
Quentin Rowlett was arraigned Friday on a five-count indictment in front of the Honorable William Little that charges him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
On Aug. 21, members of the Albany County Sheriff's Community Oriented Policing Effort (SCOPE) unit, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), executed a search warrant at Rowlett's residence on Marshall Street as part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics trafficking.
During the search, investigators recovered approximately 391 grams of cocaine, 125 grams of fentanyl powder, a loaded .40 caliber handgun, and $9,600 in cash. A digital scale and packaging materials consistent with the distribution and sale of narcotics were also found.
Rowlett, a convicted felon, pleaded not guilty on Friday and was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility.
Assistant District Attorney Marissa Olsen is prosecuting the case.
