Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Invites Residents to November 12 Open House

The City of Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department invites residents to attend a community open house on Thursday, November 12, to share their ideas about the future of parks and recreation in Cedar Rapids. The open house is part of the City's development of a Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan that will guide decisions and investments over the next 10 to 15 years.

The open house will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the planning process, meet the project team, and share what they enjoy about Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation today and what they would like to see in the future.

Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan Open House
  • Date: Thursday, November 12, 2026
  • Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Cedar Rapids Library Busse Branch, 1845 Sandberg Lane SW, Cedar Rapids

The event is free; residents may stop by anytime during the open house. No formal presentation is scheduled.

The Comprehensive Plan will examine the City's parks, recreation programs, trails, golf courses, aquatics facilities, natural areas, forestry, and other recreational facilities and services. Community feedback will help the City better understand how these spaces and programs are used, identify opportunities for improvement, and plan for future needs.

"We want to hear what residents love about our parks and recreation opportunities, as well as what they think could be better," said Carrie Mardorf, Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Director. "Whether you visit a neighborhood park, enjoy our trails, participate in recreation programs, or play golf, your experiences and ideas are important as we look ahead."

Residents who cannot attend the open house can learn more about the Comprehensive Plan and follow future opportunities to participate at CityOfCR.com/PlanParksRec.
