LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Due to imminent loss of the fishery from seasonal drawdowns, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has enacted an emergency public fish salvage for Smith Reservoir in Lakewood, effective immediately. All bag and possession limits have been lifted at the reservoir. Angling will only be permitted from the hours of 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. or dusk, whichever is earlier. Access to the property is controlled by Lakewood Parks and Recreation. Anglers must have a valid Colorado fishing license and follow all legal angling methods. Commercial fishing will not be allowed. Shoreline angling only; no motorized boating or wading is allowed. Anglers have the opportunity to harvest largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, yellow perch and green sunfish at Smith Reservoir. An updated list of closures and fishing restrictions due to drought can be found on the CPW website. The Fishing Atlas also provides anglers with information on closures and new angling opportunities. ###
