Deluzio Celebrates $230,000 for Pedestrian Safety Upgrades in Beaver Borough

CENTER TOWNSHIP, PA - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that the Borough of Beaver is receiving $227,500 in federal funds through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside TASA) Program. The funding will support the installation of fourteen lighted pedestrian signs at seven crosswalks throughout the Borough, including at Beaver Area High School and Middle School, College Square Elementary, and Saints Peter and Paul Elementary.

"Like every parent out there, I know how important it is to have the peace of mind knowing our kids can get to school safely," said Congressman Deluzio. "I'm proud to celebrate this federal funding coming to Beaver Borough to help keep kids and pedestrians safe."

TASA supports small-scale transportation initiatives alternative to car travel, such as recreational and transportation trails, safe routes to school projects, environmental mitigation, pedestrian and bicycle facilities. TASA is funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) through 2026.

The Trump Administration's efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, courts have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio's office will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding continues going to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with Congressman Deluzio's office at [email protected].
