On February 11th, 2026, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting in Brussels with the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Security and Intelligence, Scott W. Bray.
On this occasion, the officials addressed issues related to the security situation in the Black Sea region, against the backdrop of the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The talks focused on recent developments in the security environment, with focus on complex and multidimensional threats, including hybrid, cyber and information threats, and their impact on regional stability. The importance of a common understanding of security risks and challenges on the Eastern Flank was emphasized, in order to support the allied decision-making process.
Minister of National Defence highlighted the strategic relevance of the Black Sea region for NATO security and the need to maintain a high level of vigilance and adaptability, in the current context. At the same time, the importance of close cooperation in the fields of security and information exchange was reiterated, as essential elements for strengthening the deterrence and defence posture of the Alliance, especially on the Eastern Flank.
