Rhiew Revel Bridge - which carries an unclassified over a disused part of the Montgomery Canal - will be closed for repairs from 1 to 25 September [2026].
The work will include taking down and rebuilding a damaged section of parapet and wing wall, plus crack repairs to the south and north end of the structure.
To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route. For more information, please visit https://one.network/?GB152004152
Depending on vehicle type people may be able to follow an alternative diversion route.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council's term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
To inform people of the work, advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge and an information letter delivered to local properties.
