New Carts Are Coming to Union City!

Beginning February 28, 2025, Union City residents will receive BRAND NEW landfill, recycle, and compost carts for collection service. To reduce confusion and promote proper waste sorting. State and local laws* require cities to provide residents with carts that meet certain color and labeling requirements. Landfill carts will be gray, recycle carts will be blue, and compost carts will be green.

There will be no impact to regularly scheduled collection service days for residents.

• Residents who receive collection service on Mondays will receive their new carts on the prior Friday and have their old carts removed on Monday.
• Residents who receive collection service from Tuesday to Friday will receive their new carts one day prior to their regular collection service day and have their old carts removed on their regular collection service day.

Residents will receive an automated call before collection service day, with a reminder to leave old carts at the curb for removal.

Upcoming Changes to Residential Billing

All residential accounts will begin directly receiving a quarterly bill from Republic Services in June 2025 for services provided commencing July 1, 2025. For services beginning on July 1, 2025, Union City residents will no longer be billed through property taxes for landfill, recycle, and compost collection service. Currently, Union City residents pay for one year of service in advance through property taxes, but will begin paying quarterly for services starting July 1, 2025.
