Service on the MBTA Green Line B branch will be suspended between Government Center and Babcock Street the weekend of September 19 & 20 and for nine consecutive days from September 26 to October 4. Service on the MBTA Green Line B branch, which traverses Boston University's Charles River Campus along Commonwealth Avenue, will shut down twice in September to accommodate accessibility upgrades and signal modernization within the Green Line central tunnel. Service also will be suspended on the Green Line's C, D, and E branches.

The MBTA's website announced the following dates and service interruptions:

During the weekend of September 19 & 20, service will be suspended between Government Center and Babcock Street on the B branch, Government Center and Kenmore on the C branch, North Station and Kenmore on the D branch, and Heath Street and North Station on the E branch.

For nine consecutive days-starting September 26 and running through October 4-service will again be suspended between Government Center and Babcock Street on the B branch, Government Center and Kenmore on the C branch, North Station and Kenmore on the D branch, and Heath Street and North Station on the E branch.

During both shutdowns, B branch riders can use free, accessible shuttle buses between Babcock Street and Back Bay. All surface-level stops on the B branch between Babcock Street and Boston College will be free. The MBTA Route 57 bus along Comm Ave will also run free of charge.

Riders using the C and D branches can use free, accessible shuttle buses between Kenmore and Back Bay. Kenmore access will be free, with the gates open. The MBTA Route 39 bus will replace E branch service between Heath Street and Back Bay, and extra buses will be added to the 39 to accommodate additional capacity. The route will be free during the service interruptions.

The MBTA notes that riders can also connect to the Orange Line at Back Bay for continued service through downtown toward North Station.

Work will also interrupt service on the Red Line between JFK/UMass and Ashmont the weekend of September 19 & 20. Free, accessible shuttle buses will replace service between those stops. All Blue Line trains will operate on a single track between Revere Beach and Wonderland the weekend of September 26 & 27. Blue line train service will operate between Bowdoin and Wonderland, though every other train will terminate at either Wonderland or Orient Heights.
