Authorization management is moving to Availity Essentials

Starting October 24, 2026, you will have to transition to managing authorizations through Availity Essentials™, bringing authorization requests, status inquiries, tracking, and correspondence together in one place.

This transition is designed to streamline your authorization workflow and make it easier to manage authorization activities through a single platform.

What you'll be able to do in Availity Essentials

  • Submit authorization requests for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Check authorization status for requests across your organization.
  • Track activity through the Authorization Dashboard with filtering, sorting, and draft management capabilities.
  • Access authorization correspondence electronically in one location.

What this means for you

As part of this transition, you will move your authorization activities from the current Horizon Utilization Management Tool to Availity Essentials. Following the transition, your access to the previous tool will be limited to appeals associated with existing authorizations.
