PR No. 231 Rawal Dam Spillway to be Reopened Tomorrow Islamabad: July 20, 2025

As a precautionary measure, the spillway of Rawal Dam will be reopened on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 6:00 AM for approximately 5 hours. This action is being taken to enhance the dam's storage capacity in anticipation of expected rainfall in the upper catchment areas.

Safety Guidelines for the Public:

1. Avoid Waterfront Areas: Residents near the dam are urged to stay away from riverbanks and water channels to prevent potential risks.

2. Limit Non-Essential Travel: The public is advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in low-lying areas, during the spillway operation.

3. Instructions for Fishermen and Boaters: Individuals engaged in fishing or boating activities are strictly directed to refrain from entering the water during this period.

4. Stay Informed: Maintain contact with local administration and relevant authorities for real-time updates on the situation.
