Escambia County Invest #92L Update

Escambia County is continuing to actively monitor Invest #92L, which is forecasted to bring heavy rain to the area throughout the week and into the weekend. Residents are encouraged to monitor the forecast and have multiple ways to receive weather updates.

Invest #92L has a 100% chance of development over the next 48 hours, according to NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center. A tropical depression is anticipated to form over the next day, and the disturbance is expected to move east initially before turning north or northeast toward the northern Gulf Coast later this week. While the eventual track and specific impacts are still unknown, an increased risk for high surf, rip currents, and heavy rain are all expected. The next named storm is Isaias.

Rip Currents

All Escambia County beaches are at a High Risk of rip currents continuing into Saturday, Oct. 10. Life-threatening rip currents are expected during this time, and the surf will be dangerous for all levels of swimmers. County Preparedness Actions:

  • Escambia County Emergency Management staff are actively monitoring 24/7 throughout this event.
  • Sand has been made available for the public at multiple locations throughout the county. Click here for details.
  • County staff are actively monitoring problem creeks and rivers.
  • Escambia County Public Works crews have inspected all county stormwater ponds and have drained water levels where necessary. Crews will continue to monitor stormwater pond levels throughout the week to ensure outfalls are clear.
