Updated process for International Work Agreements

Interim CHRO Nickole Conley announces an updated process for international work agreements:

As we continue to manage federal and state compliance, effective immediately, all international remote work agreements will require approval from the appropriate University Chancellor and the UA Chief Human Resources Officer.

Employees who wish to request an international remote work arrangement should work with their supervisor in advance and must provide a memo containing a justification for the international work, a tax assessment from HR accounting (can take up to 60 days or longer), and the source of funding to cover the fees.

Agreements will not be finalized or approved until all required reviews are completed and requested documentation has been received. Please coordinate with your university leadership regarding any additional approvals or routing they may require to ensure timely processing.

This practice ensures consistency, compliance, and alignment with institutional priorities. Please consult with UA Human Resources for guidance on submitting or updating an international remote work agreement. At this time, the NextGen remote work agreement form has not been updated to reflect the new international approval process. Please submit NextGen remote work agreement forms only after the international work request has been fully approved.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
