Hawley Secures Wins for Fort Leonard Wood & Missouri in Senate Appropriations Bill

Friday, August 01, 2025

Today, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) voted to advance the Senate's FY 2026 appropriations package. Senator Hawley successfully secured language to protect the hospital at Missouri's Fort Leonard Wood in the legislation. Senator Hawley's amendment would also require the Army to take action and replace aging homes for the servicemen and women on the base.

"Tonight, the Senate passed a spending bill that includes my amendment to protect the hospital at Fort Leonard Wood and require the Army to work to replace all aging family housing on post. This bill also includes support for vital services that Missouri farmers and ranchers rely on. These are big wins for Missouri," said Senator Hawley.

Senator Hawley has long advocated for updated housing at Fort Leonard Wood, having secured more than $100 million in previous efforts for new homes. He also pressured the Army to protect Fort Leonard Wood's hospital earlier this year from downgrades in staffing and vital services.

The appropriations package passed the Senate and covers government spending for military construction, veterans affairs, and agriculture.
