Sumter County Animal Services (SCAS) is proud to announce the installation of several safety enhancements on its campus. Over the past few months, SCAS has worked with the facilities team to enhance the shelter with new features that further support our commitment to high animal welfare standards and enrich the living conditions for animals. With a shared focus on continuously strengthening care, departments worked collaboratively to implement the following upgrades:
- Hurricane shutters
- Vinyl fencing around the kennels
- Shade structures for outside play areas
Additionally, SCAS has prioritized increasing the number of fans and heaters in the kennels. By continuing to invest in safety and comfort, our team reinforces its role as a trusted resource for the community and a safe haven for animals in need.
"At Animal Services, the safety and well-being of our animals, staff, and visitors are always our top priority. These new enhancements will help ensure every animal receives the highest level of care in a secure environment while offering peace of mind to families who visit the shelter," said Gary Herrero, Animal Services Manager.
SCAS invites the public to see the improvements firsthand. The shelter, located at 819 CR 529, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538, is open for visitors Thursday through Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. To ensure we have staff available, we highly encourage you to schedule an appointment for a tour, but it is not mandatory.
If you've been considering fostering or adopting an animal, our team members would love to walk you through the process. To schedule an appointment, please visit the website below or call 352-689-4400.
