Luján Statement on Supreme Court Striking Down President Trump’s Sweeping Tariffs

Santa Fe, N.M. - U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Committee on Finance, issued the following statement on the Supreme Court striking down President Trump's sweeping tariffs:

"Instead of lowering costs for American families as he promised, President Trump ignited a global trade war the moment he took office. His sweeping, reckless tariffs are responsible for driving up prices and hurting small businesses and working families across New Mexico and the country. Yet Republicans have stayed silent, choosing loyalty to President Trump over standing up for our constituents or the economy.

"This Supreme Court decision is an important step forward. Now, the Trump administration must provide certainty to American small businesses by refunding the costs they have endured and take real steps to repair our economic relationships around the world."
