Final Report: Severe Weather Impacting Operations in Lincoln, Nebraska

Date
Oct 2, 2026

Operations have resumed in and around Lincoln, Nebraska as of 1200 CDT Friday, October 2, 2026.

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, BNSF is addressing service disruptions in and around Lincoln, Nebraska,

following significant rainfall and flooding across the area overnight. Approximately 4-5 inches of rain fell

within a few hours, resulting in widespread flooding across the region.

High water has affected parts of Lincoln Yard and reduced operating capacity through the gateway, while

road closures throughout the region have created additional challenges. BNSF teams are conducting inspections

and implementing recovery plans to restore operations as conditions allow.

Additional showers are possible today, although another widespread heavy-rain event is not currently forecast.

Customers with shipments moving through the Lincoln area should expect delays and longer-than-normal transit

times while recovery efforts continue. Customers tracing their freight may notice nonstandard routings, locations

and interchanges as the network adjusts to changing operating conditions.

For impacted shipment inquiries, please use the "Message Us" feature on the BNSF Customer Portal (registration

and login required) or contact BNSF Customer Support at 1-888-428-2673. Additionally, please reach out to your

BNSF marketing representative with any questions.
