National Family Island Regatta Committee held its Platinum Gala Ball in recognition of 70 years of staging its regatta in Exuma

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The National Family Island Regatta Committee held its 70th Anniversary Platinum Gala Ball on Saturday, February 28, 2026 in the Baha Mar Andros Ballroom. The Gala Ball marked the upcoming 70th consecutive staging of the National Family Island Regatta in picturesque Elizabeth Harbour, George Town, Exuma -- April 21-25, 2026, under the theme, "Celebrating World Class Sailing in Elizabeth Harbour." Bringing remarks were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation the Hon. Chester Cooper and Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs the Hon. Clay Sweeting. National Family Island Regatta Former Chairman and Commodore Danny Strachan was presented an award. Family Island winners of all categories, A, B, C, D, and E 1954 to 2025 were awarded. The government and long-time sponsors of the regatta were also awarded for their loyalty and unwavering support to the event.
