Prof. Lewandowski Talks Politics and Relationships on Radio Show

Gary W. Lewandowski Jr., Ph.D., professor in the Department of Psychology, was recently a featured guest on the Ross Kaminsky Show on 94.1 FM KOA Radio. Lewandowski spoke with Kaminsky and co-host Jeana Gondek about the intersection of politics and dating in our current climate.

Lewandowski explained that the process of filtering on dating apps has led to increased scrutiny on politics when choosing a partner, while the heightened nature of societal division today has also played a role. He explains that a couple that ignores their political differences can be a "ticking time bomb," and it's crucial to get to know someone beyond party labels when dating.

Lewandowski is a leading scholar on the psychology of relationships. His work has been featured by the Washington Post, IFLScience.com, Daily Mail, Business Insider, Salon, The New Republic, Time, and Newsweek, and he has appeared in the New York Times, The Atlantic, VICE, CNN, and NPR, among others. His recent publication, "Stronger Than You Think: The 10 Blind Spots That Undermine Your Relationship…and How to See Past Them" (Little Brown & Company), offers additional insight into relationship dynamics and overcoming challenges. His forthcoming text, "Intimate Relationships" (Sage Publications), will publish its second edition on Feb. 26.
