Augusta, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to Augusta University to upgrade cancer research equipment.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to help Augusta University upgrade equipment at the Georgia Cancer Center, Augusta University's cancer research center.
According to Augusta University, the new, state-of-the-art equipment will strengthen their research efforts to develop new therapies and cancer treatments.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering $800,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
"Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I'm delivering these resources to upgrade cancer equipment at Augusta University and help Georgians battling cancer get the world-class care they deserve," Sen. Ossoff said.
"We are deeply grateful to Senator Ossoff for securing this important federal investment in cancer research," said Augusta University President Russell T. Keen. "This support will allow us to acquire advanced research equipment that will strengthen our scientists' ability to detect, study, and ultimately combat cancer. For nearly 200 years, Augusta University and the Medical College of Georgia have been home to lifesaving discoveries that improve the health and well-being of families across our state and nation, and this investment helps ensure that work continues.
