The University of New Mexico Bookstores has launched a call for artists to participate in a new creative initiative celebrating the spirit and talent of the Lobo community. The project invites UNM students, alumni, faculty, and staff to submit artwork for a 2026 calendar that will highlight the creativity and culture of New Mexico through the eyes of Lobos.
Themed "What New Mexico Means to You," artists are invited to capture the beauty, culture, and character of the state, drawing inspiration from the people, places, and landscapes that define our community.
"Our goal with this initiative is to shed light on the incredible talents within our community and celebrate the artists behind the art," said Coline Bernal, Sr. Marketing representative for the UNM Bookstores.
Thirteen artists will be selected: one for each month and one for the cover. The calendars will be distributed during the holiday season and later available as a free digital download for everyone to enjoy. In addition to being featured in the calendar, each artist will be invited to participate in a dedicated social media video interview sharing their story and creative journey.

Artwork must be created in a 5.5-inch by 8.5-inch vertical format. Accepted mediums include painting, drawing, sketching, collage, printmaking, mixed media on paper, and digital illustration.
