March 4, 2026

BISMARCK, N.D. - The State Historical Society of North Dakota has revealed the 2026 "Teen Takeover" exhibit at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. The exhibit showcases 2026 contest entries featuring the voices and ideas of North Dakota teenagers.

The finalists are Lydia Brase, Bismarck; Eden McFadden, Rugby; Bennett Jacobson, Leeds; and Evyn Jacobson, Leeds. Their creative submissions interpret the North Dakota-related theme of "What will North Dakota look like 250 years in the future?" and are accompanied by short essays explaining their works.

Evyn Jacobson's artwork titled "Someday" was selected as the grand champion and recipient of $150 from the State Historical Society of North Dakota Foundation.

The State Historical Society is now accepting submissions for the 2027 "Teen Takeover" contest. North Dakota teens ages 13 to 18 are invited to submit an original work interpreting the theme "What is North Dakota's most important contribution to the nation?" Contest entries are due by Dec. 7, 2026. Finalists' work will be exhibited in spring 2027 at the State Museum, and a grand champion will be awarded $150 provided by the State Historical Society of North Dakota Foundation.
