Residents of Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Cupertino: You now have another spot to get free compost!

Besides the SMaRT Station®, you can now also pick up compost near Charles Street Garden at 433 Charles St.

The compost is made from local yard trimmings. Certified organic by the US Composting Council, it's processed in Gilroy at Z-Best Composting.

How to Get Compost

  • Open every day (7 days a week).
  • Go to the Charles Street Garden parking lot.
  • Follow the signs to the compost pile.
  • Help us track usage: scan the on-site QR code and select your city.
  • Bring your own shovel and container.
  • Limit: 200 gallons per person, per week.

This compost is great for gardens, backyards and landscaping. Help your plants grow while reducing waste.

Reminder: You can also get free mulch and compost at the SMaRT Station Recycling Center, 301 Carl Road.
