A vehicular homicide suspect surrendered herself on Monday at the Criminal Warrants Division after she was featured on the MNPD Most Wanted List for the last two weeks. Reana Ibrahim, 22, of Clarksville, was the driver responsible for the June 15 head-on collision on Spring Street that later killed her passenger, Jaiden Smith, 21, who remained hospitalized at Vanderbilt until his death on November 11.
The investigation revealed Ibrahim was driving a Mazda 3 in the opposite lane of traffic when it collided with a Ford Bronco. The four occupants of the Bronco were not injured, but both Smith and the Mazda's second passenger sustained serious injuries.
Ibrahim was charged last July with two counts of vehicular assault after MNPD Crime Lab toxicology testing revealed she was inebriated at the time of the crash.
As a result of Smith's death, Crash Investigation Unit officers have now charged Ibrahim with vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular assault and four counts of aggravated assault. She was released on $45,000 bond.
