City of New Brunswick Unveils New Fire Ladder Truck and Sanitation Vehicle to Enhance Public Safety and Municipal Services

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (April 29, 2026) - The City of New Brunswick is proud to announce the addition of two major pieces of equipment to its municipal fleet: a new state-of-the-art aerial ladder truck for the New Brunswick Fire Department and a new automated side-load sanitation truck for the New Brunswick Department of Public Works. These investments reflect the City's continued commitment to public safety, efficient services, and maintaining the highest standards for residents and businesses.

The Fire Department has taken delivery of a new Rosenbauer 100' Mid-Mount Aerial Ladder Truck, a modern emergency response vehicle designed to support fire suppression, technical rescue, and EMS operations throughout the City. Purchased through Defender Emergency Products Sales & Service, at a cost of $1,788,301, the apparatus features a Rosenbauer Cobra Cab on a Commander chassis, an extruded aluminum body, and a 100-foot mid-mount aerial ladder. The truck stands 10 feet, 11 inches high, measures 47 feet in length, and seats six personnel.

In addition, the Department of Public Works has placed into service a new Dennis Eagle Automated Side Load Sanitation Truck, purchased through Sanitation Equipment Corp. for $437,593. Built on a Dennis Eagle Proview cab and chassis with a Leach body, the truck offers a 33-cubic-yard capacity, a gross vehicle weight rating of 64,000 pounds, and is powered by a Cummins diesel engine. This advanced vehicle will improve refuse collection efficiency and help keep City streets clean and well maintained.

Mayor Jim Cahill praised the acquisition of both vehicles, stating, "These new additions to our fleet represent another important investment in the services our residents depend upon every day. Whether responding to emergencies or collecting sanitation, reliable and modern equipment helps our dedicated employees perform their jobs safely and effectively. We are proud to continue supporting the men and women of our Fire Department and Public Works Department with the tools they need to serve our community."
