DMR Notice of Public Hearing Regarding the Chipman Wharf Dredge Project in the Narraguagus River, Milbridge

Pursuant to 38 M.R.S. §480-D, sub-§9, the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is required to provide the Maine Department of Environmental Protection with an assessment of the impacts on the fishing industry of a proposed dredging operation. Chipman Wharf LLC are proposing to dredge a 50' x 300' access channel from their wharf to the federal navigation channel in the Narraguagus River. This material is proposed to be mechanically dredged using barge mounted equipment and transported by scow to the Douglas Island Disposal Site. The dredging operation is expected to occur in late March 2026. The details on the proposed dredge operation and disposal route can be found on the DMR website at https://www.maine.gov/dmr.

DMR will hold a public hearing on March 12, 2026, at 4:00PM at the Milbridge Town Office in the library. Written comments about the potential impacts on fishing in the area to be dredged may be sent to DMR at the email or mailing address listed below by 5:00 pm, March 12, 2026.
