Naval vessels open to the public in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, July 3 -- On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, a task group of the Chinese PLA Navy, comprising guided-missile destroyer Nanning (Hull 162) and guided-missile frigate Hengyang (Hull 568), along with shipborne helicopters and Marine Corps members, arrived in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the morning of July 2, 2026, beginning the five-day open ship events and cultural exchange activities.

This marks the first visit by the destroyer Nanning and frigate Hengyang to Hong Kong. From July 3 to July 5, the two vessels will be open to the public, including Hong Kong and Macao residents and students, at the port of the Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks, and interactive events, such as military experience activities, training demonstrations, and cultural performances will be held.
