PRESS STATEMENT 026

Statement on attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Türkiye

Today
The Spanish Government extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims who died in the unjustified and indiscriminate attacks against our partners in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), particularly today as we mourn the deaths of two victims in Saudi Arabia, in addition to those who died in other GCC countries in recent days. We also wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. The Government reiterates its full solidarity.

The Government of Spain reiterates its categorical and firm condemnation of the unacceptable Iranian attacks against the Gulf countries, especially those directed against civilian infrastructure, and the launch of a missile against Türkiye, which constitute serious violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Spanish Government calls for de-escalation and a return to dialogue and negotiations to resolve outstanding disputes. Violence and military solutions will only lead to greater instability, to the detriment of peace, security and prosperity for all.
