The School of Latin American Development Studies (ELADES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is already accepting applications for the twenty-sixth edition of its Development Policy Studies Program for Latin America and the Caribbean,, which will take place from July 9 to August 28, 2026, at the United Nations regional organization's headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
Each year, ELADES-ECLAC convenes young researchers, graduates, and/or postgraduates interested in studying the Latin American development process in its multiple dimensions. More than 800 students from 35 countries and from different universities around the world have participated in the Program (formerly known as the Summer School) since its creation in 2000.
Interested applicants may register online until March 31. The list of selected participants will be announced by email and published on the ELADES website on April 27. Priority will be given to students who have recently completed their undergraduate studies or are currently pursuing graduate studies, especially in the social sciences and humanities.
As in previous years, the Program will be organized into six modules: integral development, human development, social development, economic development, political development, and sustainable development. Classes will take place Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students may spend the remainder of the day at the Hernán Santa Cruz Library to work on their research.
The classes, mostly conducted in Spanish, are taught both by researchers who are part of the ECLAC staff and by distinguished professors from various universities in Latin America and the Caribbean and around the world.
Important information: The Program is tuition-free, but participants must cover their travel to Santiago and their accommodations.
More information about the application requirements can be found on the ELADES website.
