The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans for a Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Replacement project along Routes 218 and 187 in Bloomfield and Windsor.
The project involves full replacement of the traffic signal equipment at ten (10) intersections and new fiber optic interconnect between the intersections. The project locations are as follows:
"The replacement of the Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) communications system will establish reliable fiber optic communication connections between the signalized intersections," said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager John Lockaby. "This will allow for the implementation of advanced technologies to monitor traffic and reduce travel times."
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in June 2027, with construction anticipated to start in the fall of 2027, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with Federal and State funds.
It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community shares its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development. If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, contact John W. Lockaby, Project Manager, at (860) 594-2719 or by e-mail at [email protected] . Please make reference to State Project No 0011-0165.
