Oct 20, 2025 AI at CI Speaker Series: Responsible AI A Leadership Imperative
Join us on Nov. 6, 2025 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Gateway Hall 1501 for a presentation that positions responsible AI as a leadership imperative in higher education. It introduces the campus AI Framework and Strategic AI Compass to align AI adoption with mission, ethics, and student success.
Drawing from UCSB, UC system, and EDUCAUSE initiatives, it highlights governance, policy, and community practices, while addressing leadership dilemnas such as efficiency vs equity, innovcation vs integrity, and automation vs human dignity.
Joe Sabadao, Deputy CIO at UC Santa Barbara, will be our guest speaker. Joe leads strategic efforts in student and financial systems, data governance, and digital transformation. He co-directs UCSB's AI Community of Practice and co-leads the EDUCAUSE AI Community Group, helping institutions explore ethical, effective AI integration in higher education.
